AMUNEKE TO CONTINUE AS U17 COACH

In a bid to consolidate on Nigeria football success at the U-17 level, the Nigeria Football Federation has decided to
retain coach Emmanuel Amuneke, to continue his scout and discovery of young players.

Emmanuel Amuneke was part of the coaching crew that delivered Nigeria's 4th FIFA  U-17 championship title under the guidance of coach Manu Garba.

It has been a trend to see U-17 coaches being promoted with their players to U-20 but the NFF said Nigeria must leverage on the U-17 dominance in world football.


U-17 coaches who have got promoted to the U-20 side have not repeated their u-17 success at the U-20 level. John Obuh crashed out at the quarter final stage of the 2011 U-20 world cup while Manu Garba could not go pass round of 16 earlier this year in New Zealand.
