CBN EXTENDS BVN REGISTRATION

The Central Bank of Nigeria have heed to the cry of Nigerians who failed to comply with the BVN registration.

CBN's Director on Corporate
Communications, Ibrahim Mu'azu, in a statement said the apex Bank has decided to continue with the registration indefinitely.

“Account holders who are yet to obtain their BVN are enjoined to visit their banks and do the registration. There are two steps to the BVN process. The first step is to obtain a BVN while the second step requires the account holder to link the BVN with his or her bank account(s).”

CBN also advised everyone to take advantage of this to get their BVN. The apex bank added that even those without a bank account can enroll and  submit the BVN at anytime he/she is ready to open an account. Mu'azu said the BVN will not replace account numbers, as no one will have ant access to some one else's account with the BVN.

“The BVN is neither a payment instrument nor an account number and therefore cannot be used to access any account by unauthorised users"
